Just something funny

I realized today that as I was helping Mitchell with his homeschooling that I hadn't heard from Lexy in a while. So I went to look for her and this is how I found her! Under the cushions on the couch watching Sesame Street. I just thought that was funny. Carry on with whatever you were doing before checking this blog.

The Lord's mercies are new every morning! Amen!

Today, as I was pondering the past year since last Father's Day, I was getting a little down because I'm a "glass half empty kinda guy," and was only seeing all the failures of the past year. Wishing I could be a better Father. I was thinking about all the changes that a friend, and God through him have been helping me to make and I started feeling a little better that I have been doing a little better, or so the Lord showed me that I have been doing better. I know this will sound a like a little bit of a stretch but kind words can help and heal a lot. Anyway, as I was pondering all of this the Lord sent my youngest son, Carter to deliver a little message. He, out of the blue, came up to me and said, "Dad, you're handsome." That's Carter's way of saying, "I love you." To me, and here is where the stretch is, that was like The Lord saying, "you haven't screwed fathering up as bad as you think. Your kids still love you and that says something. You still have time to become a better father. I'm right here to help you. Keep trying. Needless to say it almost broke me and I gave Carter a big hug and kiss.
I just thought I'd share this for all fathers. You haven't screwed fathering up so bad that you can't fix it. You still have time. So this Father's Day, lets all make a pact to become better Father's. After all, we owe them at the very least the effort of striving to be better, right? I know I'm gonna keep trying to get better and better at fathering because I have a great bunch of kids who deserve way more than I'm giving them right now!

Kids say the darndest things!

A couple of days ago I laid back in my recliner and lifted Alexys up high in the air. And to my surprise she immediately put out her arms and said, "I Super Baby!" I have no clue where she heard it, or maybe she made it up, but I thought it was hilarious! So much so that I almost dropped her for lack of strength because I was laughing SO hard.
I hope this blog has brightened your day. Sometimes I forget what's important in life and I lose focus and take myself and life to seriously. Then something like this happens and snaps me back to reality. I think the Lord puts things like this in my path to show me what he delights in, in order for me to stay focused on him. Anyway, just a short note to encourage the downhearted and the bubbly, happy people also, to just lift your day no matter what you're feeling today. come on and admit it, it made you at least smile!

Dog Lover!

Yesterday, no one knew where Lexy was and I hadn't heard her for a long while. I figured she was getting into something that she shouldn't be, so I went looking for her. It turns out that she just wanted to be with Horatio while he was sleeping. So, she got a blanket, laid on him on his bed and was quiet. (Thus why I hadn't heard her. Horatio's only awake because I came into the room.)

Well, if it was a secret before it's not now. My daughter loves dogs!
